Smart Cab is a mobile taxi booking application designed to help bring VOIP into the taxi booking apps. The first idea was to design an application that just eables users get a cab with ease. But decide adding VOIP (voice over internet protocol) to it will be useful too.

Problem

clients needed an application to order for taxi of their choice at anytime of the day or night. Also, some users will have data on their mobile phones, but no call airtime to reach the driver when he is nearby or can't locate them. That was why the VOIP and the free feature was introduced from our UX research.

The Goal

To design a easy to use mobile application that can help users request a ride from their current location at anytime.

To design a feature that incooprates VOIP and helps fix the issue of the passengers calling the drivers and implement a free chat in the design.

Research

Keeping the company's goal in mind, we organized an extensive research plan that included a competitive feature and layout analysis, as well as pre-screening surveys, user interviews and contextual inquiries.

Ideation

The ideation outputs for this project include:

  1. Concept Diagram
  2. Anatomy of a course & learning path
  3. Alternate course card designs
  4. Wireframes
  5. Sitemaps

The final visual language uses a calm green-and-white palette with clear typography hierarchy to reduce cognitive load.

Authentication

The Authentication pages was designed to provide easy usabilty for both the drivers and the passenger. Also, it ease the work for the developers as they do not need to design 2 seprate login screens for the drivers and riders. The Signup page was designed to collect less information from both the riders and drivers as not to overwhelm them with too much information to provide.

Ride Request

The ride request pages were designed to provide easy use by users with friendly colors and easy navigations as the designer has both computer litrates and non-computer litrates in mind during the design. The Booking page is also the homepage of the application as it is the first page the application takes you to after a successful authentication.

To recreate a consistent and cohesive user experience, a style guide was created to define the visual language, including color palette, typography, iconography, and UI components. This ensures that all screens and interactions maintain a unified look and feel throughout the application.
